Feed yourself spiritually in a Sunday school class

Adult Sunday school classes have resumed.

New Testament Discussion

Mark Morey, Susan Burnette

Room 202

A continuing study of Paul's letter to the Romans. Lively discussion is expected; an open mind and a sense of humor are prerequisites.

Seekers Class

Stephen Neumann, Kim Talley and Darrin Murphy

Parlor

The title of the spring class will be “12 Men — 3 Years."

The study will follow the 12 Apostles' lives from their first encounter with Jesus up to their being killed or exiled for Him.

We will interact with Gospel accounts to witness how these ordinary men were transformed from total ignorance about Jesus to being the founders of the Bodyof Christ that believers are a part of today.

We will experience their highs and lows and the fact that all 12 did not make it to the end. Our purpose in this adventure will be to glean from the disciples journey in order to examine our own following of Christ and to learn to walk more intimately with Him.

Please join us and invite a new “seeker" of Christ!

New Testament Survey

Room 210

Teachers: Bob Houchin and Kathy Jones

We would like to invite all to come to our class to learn more about the Holy Scripture and to fellowship with us. We would love to have you and to share your ideas with us.

We will finish Acts on or about the First week in June. At that time, the class will decide what they would like to discuss and study next.

This is a round-table discussion at a rectangular table. All discussion is welcome.

Life of Faith and Obedience
in the Power of the Holy Spirit

Cissy Bankhead

Westminster Room

Practical ways of walking in the Spirit.

Kaleidoscope

David Mullin, Mary Mullin, and Jay O'Brien

Room 206

We are finishing the study of 2 Samuel and the incredible lessons pertinent to our life today that we can learn from the life of David. Next, we progress to Kings.

Design for Living

Room 209

Teachers: Bill Landess, Bob Sanders, Jerry Shelby and Garet von Netzer

The class is continuing its study to understand the inherent greatness of the names that God uses to refer to Himself. The supportive text is “The Names of God," by Ken Hemphill, former president of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.

The in-depth devotional study of the names of God is teaching us the significance of each name and the keys it possesses to growing us in relationship with God. We want to discover that He is our Provider, Sustainer, Healer, Shepherd and more.

“Experiencing God"

Jerry and Gay Shelby

Come and see, hear, ask and share Henry Blackaby's “Experiencing God, Knowing and Doing the Will of God" during the church school hour, beginning Feb. 3 in Room 204. Video, notebooks and class discussion for those interested in their spiritual enlightenment, encouragement and growth.

PLEASE NOTE: There is a requirement of at least eight people committed to regular attendance, homework and participation for 12 weeks, and so far, not enough people have signed up. If you are interested, contact Charlotte at the church to register. Cost for workbook will be $10.

Know Christ

A. Outreach Team currently calls on those who visit our church and attempt to develop personal relationships with them. We conduct four Inquirer's classes during the year and then with help of members we call “Equippers," they try to encourage our new members to use their unique passions, gifts and style for the service in His Kingdom. Do you have a passion to see people come to Christ? Let's talk!

B.“We want to develop among our members a more "inviting" approach to. unchurched friends and. neighbors. This would involve a more high profile effort for large events and specific invitations to visit small groups.

C. Outreach Team is attempting to develop "Outreach Dinners" where two couples or singles (FPC members) invite visitors over to their home or out to dinner. Would you like to help? Call Murray at the church or Priscilla Thompson.

Accountable/Supported

A. Sunday School Team - supports those with gifts in teaching to help Sunday School run effectively.

B. Small Group Support Team - Did you know that over fifty small groups meet at First Presbyterian Church? “Would you like to learn how to lead or participate in a small group? Let's talk?

C. Big Event Team - The devil doesn't know how to have real fun, The Big Event Team wants to bring our church family together along with their friends to enjoy time together.

D. Singles Team - The singles world is growing and we need to reach out to this segment of our community. Do you have any passion in this dIrection?

Discovering Spiritual Gifts

We at First Presbyterian Church believe people are happiest when they are serving in an area that they are passionate about, using their gifts and their own unique style. Do you know your gifts? Would you get a charge from seeing others come alive in ministry, this area may be for you?

In Ministry for Christ

A. Prayer Teams - Your individual prayer times are vital to your spiritual health. There is a special promise in Matthew 18:20 that says were two or three are gathered the Lord is present, "When we gather to pray, to seek Him, we believe there is nothing that pleases God's heart more.

B. World Mission Committee Teams -What is the Lord doing around the world? Would you like to be involved? This committee will get you in the know and put you on the front line of ministry around the world.

C. Service Teams - First Presbyterian Church desires to help the needy of the Panhandle, Different teams of people are involved with;

  1. Children's Home
  2. Downtown Shelters
  3. Ronald McDonald House
  4. High Plains Food Bank
  5. Habitat for Humanity
  6. Prison Fellowship.

Be a part of a team that takes the light of Christ to a hurting world.

D. Mentor Team - An area of ministry that we would like to grow in is hooking up individuals and newly married couples with mentors who would meet with them regularly to encourage each other in the things of the Lord.
