Director of Ministry to

What do you like to be called? Stacey.

Have you worked someplace where we might have seen you before? First- and third-grade teacher at Coronado Elementary.

Tell us where you went to school? Amarillo High School (I’m a Sandie living in Rebel land!) West Texas A&M University with a bachelor of science in education.

Tell us about your family: Husband, Dewayne, and daughters Audrey, 7, and Kate, 6.

What is your church home? Trinity Fellowship.

What do you do for fun? Creative writing, decorating and shopping, public speaking, birthday parties for homeless children.

What is your favorite food, movie or book? Food - scampi; movie: “Life Is Beautiful” and “Miracle on 34th Street.”

I am most proud of: My two daughters’ faith and their willingness to share.

Anything else you would like to say to introduce yourself: I am so excited about this amazing opportunity to help children develop their relationship with God.


FPC supporting variety of missions

The World Mission Team of FPC is charged with joining the Lord in the work He is doing outside the Amarillo area. With the approval of the 2008 budget, where the Session voted not to cut mission spending, we want you to know where some of your contributions are going:

1. $4,000 ­ outreach to the Digo a Muslin people group in Kenya

2. $2,000 ­ to “Open Doors” to support the persecuted church in Iraq.

3. $1,000 ­ One by One a ministry working with PCUSA churches to encourage them in ministry to those caught in a homosexual lifestyle.

4. $1,000 ­ to support Rev. Andrew Adair, a mission mobilizer helping put people where God has called them overseas.

5. $300 ­ to Shawna Endrizzi in her effort represent Christ through the People to People Program.

BLANKETS FOR NEEDY CHILDREN

Hem blankets to help out the goal of 4500 blankets for the Eveline Rivers Christmas Project. 50”x 60” blankets need to be surged, fringed or blanket stitched around the edges. The colors are yellow, red, grey, navy, purple, pink, light blue, burgundy, turquoise, and dark lime. Please bring your sewing machine or Serger and thread.

THE HAVEN HOUSE

Phase I, II, III
Landscaping

Phase I and II are completed, two garden beds are completed, with two forsythia bushes and one tall evergreen on the south. On the north, the bed was fully planted.
Several holes were started for a Desert Willow, 2 Lilac bushes and other plants. Phase III will be the patio area which will require extra man power. Donations for supplies have been requested from local stores.

HELPING THE UNCHURCHED

The Hutson family. Mrs. Hutson was diagnosed with small-cell lung cancer in February. Two weeks after her diagnosis she was found to have brain cancer. She left her career to undergo treatment and was the financial stability in the family, which include her husband and two teenage children. They are now under incredible financial burden.
What can we do: Pray, pray, pray. Simple cards or letters of encouragement, gift cards, etc.

Around the church

Plant sale to benefit ministry

The annual Music Ministries Plant Sale will take place starting from noon to 6 p.m. April 25, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 26 and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 27. All proceeds from the sale go to help fund music ministry educational trips.

NUFFs to face the music

Sue Duckett, who lists piano teacher as the latest of her careers, which include working in rehabilitation and child protective services, teaching English, and teaching blind and visually impaired students, will present the Nuffs’ program at 10:30 a.m. May 8.

She has written her own course of study for the piano, which she says is fun and easy. Duckett guarantees that she can have any student playing piano with both hands within 15 minutes.

Her students, whose ages range from 21 to 80+, play on keyboards spread around the room at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. You won’t want to miss this fun and informative program.

Great Escape deposits due

The $100 deposit for Great Escape middle school summer camp is due April 25. For more information or details, please call Alana in the Student Ministries office.

Moms to be treated with muffins

We would like to honor all mothers on Mother’s Day, May 11, with a “Muffin for Mom” to say thank you, and we appreciate you. After the 8:30 and 11 a.m. service all moms are invited to the Great Hall for a muffin.

Emmaus reunion planned

If you are a member of FPC and have been on a Walk to Emmaus, mark your calendars for a Reunion Potluck Supper from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 8 in the Parlor.

Prayer retreat set for April 29

FPC will be hold a Women’s Prayer Retreat from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 29 at the Bishop DeFalco Conference Center.

This will include morning coffee and snacks, prayer time, communion, and lunch.

The DeFalco Center will provide a prayer labyrinth, which provides a single path in and out and is designed to quiet the mind for prayer and meditation.

Bring your Bible and prayer journals as this is not a guided walk but a personal meditation at your own pace.

Dress comfortably as we will remove our shoes to walk the labyrinth. Those who would like to carpool can meet at FPC at 9 a.m. and drive to DeFalco together.

For those who are working, please come by the DeFalco Center anytime during the day as the prayer labyrinth will be open until 5 p.m.

Please call Jean Edwards at 373-4242 by April 25 to make your lunch reservation and to let us know if child care is needed.

Get team together for scramble

It’s time to plan for the 9th Annual Jim Bankhead Golf Scramble scheduled for June 6 at the Arrowhead Course at Comanche Trail Golf Club.

That’s only two months away! So, start recruiting your teammates and look for further announcements in the next few weeks.
